A friend of mine told me yesterday he's thinking about making an undergroud movement against the Haredic Jews who are trying to enforce their primitive lifestyle on Israel (and leech off it on the way). He's thinking about blowing up synagogues and things like that.
I must say I fully support it. Pretty much with every passing day, it seems that an attack like that is becoming a necessity. They're gaining power now. If they won't be eliminated when they're little, they'll take over the country (lest the Arabs do it first). Even if it will collide into a civil war, they don't stand a chance. They're a tiny minority compared to the non-religious majority.
I, however, won't participate in such actions. I just have too much to do with my life. I want to go study in Japan (or England), then move to Ireland for probably the rest of my life, living modestly off translations and writing... I don't want to spend the prime of my life imprisoned, or escaping the twisted Israeli law.
This reminds me of a poem I found again today, in a book I've been looking for like crazy in the school library. It's titled, Na Coillteáin (The Eunuchs), by Máirtin Ó Direáin:
'Cuirimis le chéile' adeir na coillteáin
Ionas nach léifear faisnéis
Ar ghinte an fhir seo
Ar pháipéar ná in irisleabhar,
Is chuireadar le chéile
Ag ól na dí dóibh
I gcúinni na fhill,
Óir níl éad níos géire
Ná éad an choillteáin
Le fear na gcloch.
Which translates to, according to the Hebrew translation given:
'Let us unite,' said the eunuchs,
'Lest they will read about
The works of this man
In a paper or a magazine.'
They united and sat
And sipped drinks
In the corners of treason.
For there is no jealousy
As the eunuch's jealousy
Of the virile man.
Beautiful language, beautiful poem, beautiful message. Amen to that.
Ceterum censeo Meam-She'arim Benem-Barakque esse delendas.
(EDIT: An interesting article I found and replied to, found here.)
